Literally begging anyone who can vote in US elections to vote, and to vote against Trump. Which means voting for Harris, not abstaining or voting third party.
My family actually did move here from an authoritarian country, where voting literally didn't matter, they literally did throw out your vote, and they literally did assassinate citizens who spoke out against them.
We would all very much like to keep living in a country where those things are not the case!
You know, the same things that Trump and his stooges have openly said they want to do. And two of the main propaganda lines for why people in the US shouldn't vote, which is a lie.
Voting matters. The parties are not the same.
And make sure to vote in down-ballot races!!!
And like. The fact that voting matters in the US is a very real reason for hope. It is something you should genuinely appreciate. We can make a difference.
And a lot of people risked their lives or even died to earn that right, and it's a right not everyone has.

space sweepers but they're delivery people and are at no point on screen through the entire movie
#fantasy high#riz gukgak#kristen applebees#gorgug thistlespring#adaine abernant#fabian seacaster#figueroth faeth#the bad kids#half tempted to say these names are forum handles they use so much it pretty much became their professional names lol#I keep them teenagers bc its funnier that way#no real lore I just like drawing this. but I do think abt how theyre all weirdos too also bc thats funny to me#riz is a huge conspiracyhead who does everything by hands. he has a casio fx-570 in mint condition. nobody knows how he's maintaining it#he is nonetheless Really Good at his job. which somewhat tracks bc it's a job that requires keeping up with interstation conflicts#and new policies and an obsessive amount of planning. but he is Too Good at it. and also he dresses like that#kristen has the atomic engine that theoretically lets her unmake and remake matters with her mind. but it consumes a huge amount#of energy so it's mostly useless. she's still a cult survivor also#gorgug lives his entire life on a ship with his parents who quit a cushy deal maintaining a space station bc he wouldn't be allowed on#the low gravity let him grow very tall but also his oxygen saturation is pretty bad so he's got breathing support#fig is a robot who just found out she's a robot like two months ago. she's been assuming everyone's a robot like her and she's been feeling#very betrayed by her mom lying about that part. she's on a body mod spree which is rough bc system-specific parts are expensive#and so is adapting random parts to her system#fabian's still a pirate captain's son. can't say anything that'd be able to get the vibes across clearer than that#adaine went to tech/business school. she put her monthly allowance towards an ecoterrorist group in her academy which turned out to be an o#and she's currently wanted by UTS. more than fabian. which makes him slightly mad#she's also acquired a passion for low-tech weaponry on the way. she likes ice picks and cleavers#I think up all of this for no reason except that once again the idea of all these people being 1/teens and 2/on the same ship to be posties#is hilarious to me. esp. if they were in a forum group chat beforehand

This whole Kamala Harris debacle has shown me how many leftist talking points are coming from privileged people whose only connection to politics is the (usually surface level) theory they’ve looked up.

there are no amount of domestic policy gains you can cite that will make people change their mind about voting for biden. it's not like the people refusing to vote for him are too uninformed to understand that biden has provided significantly more domestic protections for LGBT people than trump will, but some people are simply willing to risk their own political standing to avoid legitimizing genocidal regime. i dont think anyone in the world is operating the impression that trump would provide less funding and arms to israel but i also don't think it's a stretch to say that there are huge swathes of center-lib shitfucks who will suddenly change their mind about carpet bombing civilians when it's The Friggen Cheeto Man doing it instead of their favorite blue ghoul.

I think CAIR is trying to do some damage control now. They were supposed to release the exit poll for this election at 10 am ET today, but have since postponed it. Their polling and releases repeatedly state that the vote was split between Harris and Stein at around 40% each respectively. The narrative has been that the population they represent has voted Dem for the past 20 years, only because of the Islamophobia after 9/11, and they're likely trying to find out why they'd vote for a politician that has villainized Muslims in the past (Muslim ban anyone?) Yet we're seeing from other news sources that this is not the case. It was, in fact, 40% for Stein and Trump each with Gaza being the primary factor.
For example, this is from a Voice of America article on the subject.
Tumblr media
And here is the reasoning.
Tumblr media
Read that last part again.
Tumblr media
As I stated in my post about my student talking politics at me, and others on this site have pointed out as well, this same sentiment has been echoed by many across social media and IRL.
It wasn't about whether or not Trump was the better option.
It was about punishing Biden, Harris, and the Dems.
It was about burning everything down to make a point.
And here's the thing, Trump's policies and views towards Gaza are markedly worse. There will likely be an escalation, there will be no "ceasefire" or "stopping the genocide" magically as these voters want, but that doesn't matter. The Dems had to be punished.
So we're going to get 4 years of absolutely shit policies, rollbacks of rights, more policies targeting minorities, and a real chance at living in an corrupt authoritarian country all because of reactionary punitive rage based reasons.
In other words, because people decided to be immature with their vote and do a "that'll show em!"
The reasoning is utterly childish.
You don't vote to punish.
You vote to progress.
You vote to help the society you live in and help make beneficial change.
Instead, ya'll decided to act like children.
And we will all suffer for it.
When CAIR does release their data I'll update here

Isn't that how dictatorships start?
Slightly concerning news from America that the Supreme Court have ruled former presidents are entitled to absolute immunity from prosecution for official acts whilst taken in office, but have no immunity for unofficial acts.
Meaning the federal election interference case against Donald Trump will return to lower court which will then decide on how to apply this ruling.
The moment the judiciary are giving former, or current presidents, absolute immunity from prosecution is the moment the country is slipping dangerously into dictatorship territory. And makes a mockery of the checks and balances within the US.
Maybe @mishacollins was right in his tweet?

Like I’m sorry but I don’t know who we all think we’re fooling with this. The vast majority of men do not see women as human or fully human. Like it’s true. I think for a lot of them, they see men as actual human beings with depth, dignity, and complexity but they see women as sort of…lesser shallow beings pretending to be human. Deadass I feel like when they look at us their eyes go right through us, like we’re a shell or a void somehow, not someone whom they can relate to, connect and reason with. We’re slightly more intelligent animals to them, or sexual objects that they can exploit or plow through as they wish, or property to protect and covet, or scapegoats to unleash their wrath upon, or the butt of a joke that nobody wrote, OR vapid useless bimbos who are the very emblem of intellectual vacancy and inferiority, or we’re simply nonexistent lol, but at the end of the day, we’re never afforded the same sapience and wholeness and interiority that MEN are capable of, honestly, not even close. Sorry NOT sorry to say this but it’s the truth, honey. If men truly saw women as fully-fleshed out human beings then we sure as hell wouldn’t be in this shithole right about now. I don’t know how to properly word this, I’m just spitting out words I guess, but it’s not like you can disagree with me here, because it’s the truth. And sometimes, the truth hurts, and as much as I hate to say it, it needs to be said.

It's such a minor gripe but I hate it when people in fanon content make it so that the giant swelterstone in the Dunes has a habit of dimming/being covered up at night. It just. Feels like it detracts from the whole "ecological disaster" deal if the swelterstone can just be covered up (why not keep it constantly covered in that case? Then monsters can grow greenery in the Dunes and restore it back to the Meadows). And the Underground is supposed to be a stagnant environment (I think Alphys said that there's no real weather in the Underground. Also the Underground is literally underground. Of course it's not gonna experience weather like the Surface). Having a 24-hour "sun" that bakes the land dry and withers crops and throws off everyone's circadian rhythm feels more in line with the whole "hopeless, unchanging Underground" situation than an imitation sun that "rises" and "sets."

been sitting with a half filled mail in ballot in my room for a week now mulling over who tf to vote for. ive got people online claiming that theyre fine with genocide overseas as long as kamala can maintain trans rights, and we're two weeks from the election and she's saying she won't even fight to restore trans bans in any state because we should "follow" the law?? i dont want any fucking person to tell me that voting for this woman will help me or my communities in anyway. if she loses, this isn't the fault of non-voters, this is the fault of a so-called "progressive" party making their case as morally "better" than republicans on the basis that they haven't built their own wall YET, or that at the very least they aren't immediately wiping out an entire ethnic population....you're all fucking freaks. I don't want MY RIGHTS at the cost of palestinian life??? this makes me want to vote third party even more cause there's no way I can sleep at night knowing I voted for someone who gives absolutely no shit about what the majority of the US population agrees on (weapons embargo, gender-affirming care, healthcare expansion, student loan forgiveness, increase in wages). i would rather spend my time ruminating over my ballot with people who make me feel safe and seen and who are working on building tools and supports within our greater community. i have a privilege to be so over this, but myself and other marginalized people deserve to voice our criticisms and concerns without being shamed into making a decision. shaming people to fall in line on an election where they don't feel protected regardless of the outcome will force people to become more disillusioned...and i dont fucking blame them for being more disillusioned either.
